TREKKING - Firefox Way

Firefox/Red Panda Way

Starting from Ribdi, you visit « Red Panda Sanctuary », situated in a forest of rhododendrons, where you can observe this rare and beautiful animal (also traditionally calledFirefox from Chinese). Bears, dears and wild pigs are also present.
Going on Firefox Way, you won’t disturb animals, because reaching their habitat you will walk in a specially prepared wide path to not make noises and you will have a chance to observe them from hiding in traditional bamboo huts.
Going on Firefox Way, enjoy the Kangchenjunga view points in Tholo Dhunga, Bhanjang, Taal (where you can even stay for the night in tent), and you can climb to the Buddhist place of Dhajay summit (11000 ft/ 3666 m).
Start from :
Ribdi (7000 ft / 2333 m)
Propositions :
*1 day : 3h to reach observation bamboo hut / 2h wildlife observation (lunch) / 2h back to Ribdi (same way).
*2 days :
1st day : 3h to reach observation bamboo hut / 2h wildlife observation (lunch) / 1h to Tent camp on Taal (observation tower and meeting Wildlife specialists and dinner).

Another name used in English is Firefox. It is said that this is the literal translation of the Chinese name for the Red Panda.[11][12][13] However, according to Chinese dictionaries the Panda is 熊猫 (xióng māo, or "bear cat"),[14] the Red Panda is 小熊猫 (xiǎo xióng māo, "small bear cat)[15] or 红熊猫 (hóng xióng māo, "red bear cat"),[16] and "firefox" (火狐, or huǒ hú) refers to the Firefox browser.[16][17][18]

Other local names attributed to this species include Fire Cat,[4] Bright Panda, Common Panda, Sankam, Thokya, Wokdonka, Woker and Ye.
